This Old Farmhouse...
These two postcards of an old farm-house at Sagamore Beach
were published by Adams Pharmacy in Sagamore.
For many years this place was known as the Crowell Farm.
Just after the turn of the century, Francis E. Clark, and members of the New
England Society of Christian Endeavor purchased most of what is known today
as Sagamore Beach. This included the old farmhouse that is located on
Crowell Road.
Paul Crowell was the owner of this property when the great
Portland storm[?] hit this area in the late 1800s.
The barn, whose stout hand-hewn timbers had withstood the
gales for nearly 200 years, succumbed to this mighty gale. It's been said
that part of this farmhouse was erected in 1690.
If you can fill in some history or know some of the past or
present owners of this property, write a letter to the editor of the Bourne
Courier.
